pei tel concludes production acquisition

Bringing expertise together in one place: pei tel Communications GmbH, developer and manufacturer of high-quality communication accessories and connectivity solutions, has now relocated all production steps that had previously been acquired from partner company peiker acustic GmbH & Co. KG, based in Friedrichsdorf, to the company’s own headquarters in Teltow, near Berlin. A number of additional jobs had been created, especially in the fields of production and logistics, in recent years in preparation for the shift. By bringing its activities together in one place, pei tel is promising customers shorter delivery times, faster responses, and the possibility of individual product adjustments, even for small unit quantities.

“Concluding the production acquisition marks a milestone for our company. After nearly 30 years, we now have not only sales, but also the full range of production activities for audio equipment from the world-famous peiker brand entirely in our hands,” says Thomas Martin, CEO of pei tel. In all, nearly 50 product groups, including handsets, hand microphones, and gooseneck microphones, have been transitioned, along with 400 individual items and 2000 assemblies. The company also had to build a completely new supplier network, restructure its portfolio, and integrate an additional 16 employees. Martin’s view of the move is positive: “The changes were a lot of work for us. But all our efforts have paid off, and ultimately, our employees will benefit from this – just like our customers,” he explains. For one thing, the company is now better prepared for the future, he says, which also enhances job security. For another, customer requests can now receive faster, more individualized responses. For example, plans call for shortening the average delivery time to eight weeks and enabling individual product adjustments even in the case of small unit quantities in the future.

pei tel Communications GmbH was originally founded in 1991, purely to serve as a sales company for products from peiker acustic GmbH & Co. KG. As time went by, the company formed its own development department, which was responsible for items such as the PTCarPhone series. The range of handsets, microphones, speakers, and various types of audio accessories for communication systems and equipment continued to grow, with peiker acustic remaining responsible for producing most items. When the sale of peiker acustic to French automotive supplier Valeo was announced, in December 2015, pei tel started assuming responsibility for production. Today, the company independently develops and produces a large number of communication solutions used all over the world.
